Summary

N,N-Diacetyloximo-1,3-phenylenediamine (H2L) reacts with copper(II) ions to yield octahedral complexes, which have been characterized by elemental analysis, i.r. and u.v.-vis. spectroscopy, magnetic moments, conductance and e.s.r. measurements. The molar conductance values of the complexes in DMF are commensurate with their non-electrolytic nature, the g∥ - values show considerable covalent bonding with a dx2-y2 ground state.
