Formerly Tissue Antigens, the journal publishes original full-length articles, brief communications and, from time to time, reviews on research in: immunogenetics of cell surface antigens; ontogeny and phylogeny of the immune system; immunogenetics of cell interactions; functional aspects of cell surface molecules and their natural ligands, e.g., cytokines, adhesion molecules, activation antigens; role of tissue antigens in immune reactions in vitro and in vivo, including experimental and clinical transplantation; and relations between normal tissue antigens and tumor-associated antigens.
Genetic control of immune response, disease susceptibility and genetics, biochemistry and molecular biology of alloantigens and leukocyte differentiation antigens is the emphasis of the journal. Papers are included which concern molecules expressed on lymphoid cells, myeloid cells, platelets and non-lineage restricted antigens. Immunogenetics of histocompatibility antigens in humans and experimental animals, their tissue distribution, regulation and expression in normal and malignant cells, and antigens as markers for diseases are of major interest. All aspects of tissue antigens are considered: serological, immunological, genetic, molecular genetic, biochemical and functional. Papers on structure-function relationships, MHC peptide T-cell receptor interactions and regulation are of particular interest.
