Maximum Conductive Hearing Loss REVISITED

Cynthia Collier, AuD, is a 2014 graduate of The University of Texas at Dallas Doctor of Audiology (AuD) Program. She holds a bachelor's degree in biology and an MBA. She works in the Otolaryngology Department at Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport, Louisiana. She supervises AuD students and teaches third-year medical students about audiology. Her interests span the field, but Dr. Collier is most enthusiastic about vestibular testing and education.

It is the aim of this article to disabuse audiologists and otolaryngologists of the idea that a conductive hearing loss cannot be greater than 60 dB. The article demonstrates that air-bone gaps are both transducer specific and frequency specific and can feasibly be upward of 105 dB.
