IS CONTINUING MEDICAL EDUCATION A DRUG PROMOTION TOOL?

  • Faux, Dominic
Education for Primary Care 19(2):p 225, 2008.

Whilst the deaneries lurch from crisis to crisis, I shall try to ignore the latest nonsense coming out. By the time you read this (three months after writing) there may be another Government initiative (an oxymoron) to exercise us as educators.

Meanwhile in the arcane world of medical education. . . . .

  • games are a useful but limited educational tool

  • podcasts will get better

  • we don’t use EBM after qualifying

  • old doctors pontificate inaccurately

  • students like face-to-face career advice

  • patients use the internet

  • CME is still in the pockets of the drug industry

  • lawyers want you to document stuff endlessly

  • Americans teach American stuff in Germany.

There, you don’t need even to read the reviews.
