BREAST MILK

Editors'Note: In this issue of JHL, we present the abstracts from the 2006 meeting of the International Society for Research in Human Milk and Lactation (ISRHML). As stated on their website, www.ishrml.org.umu.se, ISRHML is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the promotion of excellence in research and the dissemination of research findings in the field of human milk and lactation. This organization includes some of the best known lactation scientists without whose efforts, we would have little evidence with which to build our practice. It must be noted that this meeting was funded in part by industry and some of the abstracts presented at the meeting resulted from industry-sponsored research. Funding information for the meeting and for each abstract is presented below. The disclosure of this information is an important part of our editorial policy that allows for publication of industry-sponsored research that meets our rigorous standards as long as funding information is made available to our readers. We continue to feel strongly that our readers, when fully informed, are able to make appropriate judgments about our editorial content and we are pleased to make this “cutting edge” lactation research available in JHL.
