PICC Line Occlusions: Implications and Opportunities for Medical-Surgical Nurses

The purpose of this study was to identify factors associated with increased vascular occlusion in hospitalized patients with a peripherally inserted central catheter. Risk of occlusions increased with length of time the catheter was in place, frequency of access, and administration of continuous infusions.
