Clinical experience
During my community placement as a third-year student midwife, I was supported by my practice supervisor to provide care, under minimal supervision, for pregnant women who were attending antenatal appointments. During these appointments, I would take the lead in providing care, however, if I had any questions or concerns or felt that I was in a situation that was beyond the limits of my competence, my supervisor was able to support me, and take over the care if required.
