About the Author
Patricia J. Johnson, DNP, MPH, RN, NNP, is a practicing neonatalnurse practitioner in the Phoenix metropolitan area. She pilotedthe NNP role during her master's program in nursing in the early1970s and subsequently established NNP teams in the Midwest and Southwest. She also taught and coordinated one of the early NNP certificateprograms in Arizona. She has been an active volunteer withneonatal nursing organizations and is a recognized expert in the deliveryof neonatal care by the advanced practice nurse. She received a doctoratein nursing practice from Arizona State University in 2008.
