Pharmaceutical Medicine has a long-standing history in Germany, but is still not yet a legitimate subspecialty of medicine according to the official list of medical specialities issued by the German Medical Association. This short article provides background information on the German Association of Pharmaceutical Medicine and addresses key points of the current landscape of clinical research in Germany.
