Do Not Try to Forget This One

Originally published in Contemporary Psychology: APA Review of Books, 2000, Vol 45(1), 67–69. The reviewer notes that this book (see record 1997-36412-000) successfully captures the whole spectrum of interest in intentional forgetting. Many researchers who are familiar with only one aspect of intentional forgetting research will be startled to see the impressive range of issues discussed here. However, it should be noted that, although the title of the book suggests a truly interdisciplinary approach, all of the research covered here comes from psychology. The reviewer concludes that the editors deserve a lot of credit for taking research in several distinct subfields in psychology and presenting it in a way that makes clear the underlying common themes. This is one book that psychologists in many subfields should not only try to remember but should also not try to forget. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2006 APA, all rights reserved)
